H.G. Wells
Born in Bromley, Kent, England, on 21st September 1866, Herbert George Wells, the famous science fiction novelist, was the son of a semi-professional cricketer and intermittent housekeeper mother. He entered Morley's School in Bromley at the age of 7 and left at 14 to become apprentice draper. In 1883 he rebelled against his position and became a teacher for a year. In 1884 he won a scholarship from the Normal School of Science at South Kensington. Three years later, 1887, Wells left Kensington without a degree to return to teaching for three years at a private school. Nevertheless, he received a degree in science in 1890 from the University of London.

HG Wells married his cousin Isabel in 1891 when he began writing on educational topics for three years before he publishes his first novel, "The Time Machine", which became an instant success. Following a difficult and short marriage, he divorced Isabel and remarried in 1895 when he also abandoned teaching.

H.G. Wells gained fame with his first book, "The Time Machine". He then wrote a series of science fictions: The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896), The Invisible Man (1897), The War of the Worlds (1898), When the Sleeper Awakes (1898), The First Men in the Moon (1901), and The War in the Air (1908). Wells wrote realistic novels and novels of ideas later in his life.

HG Wells was an advocate of globalization and a world government. His intention in The Outline of History (1920) was that "if civilization was to continue, the growth of political, social, and economic organizations into world federation is inevitable".
He died in 1946 in London.
