The Invisible Man |
|
Synopsis |
This is a classic fiction that H. G. Wells wrote in 1897. Jack Griffin, an eccentric scientist, develops a procedure that renders a person invisible. Following some ill-fated events, he uses the procedure on himself. However, as he lost his scientific papers, he is unable to produce an antidote and doomed to remain invisible until he could produce an antidote.
As usual in H. G. Wells’ writings, he sends a message to human beings that while science is necessary for man’s well being, it also can destroy him. In this story as in others of his writings, Wells points out to the social need for justice. Moreover, Wells shows that the power science can bring to satisfy man’s hunger for power and control, will ultimately bring havoc into the world that will destroy him.
