G. A. (Geoffrey Arnold) Mohr gained bachelor and masters degrees in Engineering from Melbourne University and a PhD from Cambridge University, where his father helped split the atom, with a thesis entitled Analysis and Design of Plate and Shell Structures using Finite Elements.

Of relevance to this book he has lectured various subjects on Numerical Methods, Finite Element Method, Systems Analysis/Operations Research, Production /Operations Management and Quantitative Management Techniques for all engineering students at Monash and Auckland Universities.  He has also run courses in these areas with nation wide attendance in Australia, New Zealand and America.

He also has long and wide international experience in education, engineering, management consulting and politics.  He has published nearly 60 papers in nearly twenty international journals.

His previous books were A Microcomputer Introduction to the Finite Element Method, which was published in Melbourne (Pitman) and London (Heinemann), and Finite Elements for Solids, Fluids, and Optimization, published by OUP Oxford.
