The granddaughter of Jim McConnell, who fought for Australia during World War One at Gallipoli, Villers-Bretonneux and the Somme Canal, Dorothy Gilding is now a retired Primary school Teacher. She has had a varied career, teaching across Victoria and the ACT; including Secondary classes and individual tutoring to students with special needs. Her particular love is literature, and she has been writing since age ten when her first poem was published. She currently tutors older adults in Creative Writing.
